Newington's Chill Club

Young people at the heart of Newington

Newington’s Chill Club is a free, inclusive, youth-led group established in 2018 for young people aged 10–18 in Ramsgate. We meet every Monday, 6–8pm, at Newington Community Centre.

With arts at its heart, Chill Club offers young people a safe, welcoming space to explore their creativity, build confidence, make friends and develop new skills. Activities include art, crafts, sport, cooking, games and trips. We also work in partnership with other organisations like Sports Connect and the local Family Hub.

At Chill Club, young people are at the heart of everything we do. They help shape sessions, bring their ideas to life and work together to create a space that belongs to them.

Chill Club members also get involved in local events and community initiatives, including:

- Helping at the local festival, Best Fest

- Organising their own event in Paines Plough’s pop-up theatre

- Having their say on the redevelopment of their local park

- Contributing and getting involved in wider community projects

The impact of their ideas, creativity and energy reaches far beyond the youth group, demonstrating the importance of listening to young people, valuing their contributions and giving them opportunities to shape the community they live in.
